8 AWG (8 GAUGE) CUSTOM MADE BATTERY CABLE ASSEMBLY WITH ANDERSON SB50 PLUG TO YOUR CHOICE OF CONNECTORS ON OTHER END

A Single SB50 Plug measures 1.44 inch wide by 1.89 inch long

YOU CHOOSE THE LENGTH OF THE WIRE WITH AN SB50 INSTALLED ON ONE END
AND CHOICE OF ONE OF THE 5 FOLLOWING OPTIONS FOR THE OTHER END:
  1. NO ENDS ON THE OTHER SIDE
  2. CORROSION RESISTANT TIN PLATED PURE COPPER LUGS
  3. JUMPER CABLE CLAMPS
  4. ANOTHER SB50 PLUG (basically an extension cable)
To make a mating pair of plugs you'll need 2 assemblies: For Example if you want a cable that is 4 foot overall length with mating pair of plugs in the middle you would order a quantity of 2 assemblies, each 2 foot long which will plug into each other and give you the overall 4 foot length. Each assembly is ordered separately to your design.

The SB50 plug will mate with other SB50 plugs of the SAME COLOR! You cannot mate a RED and GRAY plug as they are made differently to avoid this. Also, the SB50 will not mate with a larger or smaller plug style such as the SB175 or SB350. The plugs will only mate with their own series (SB50). Two SB50 plugs of the same color will mate even with different wire sizes as the actual contacts are the same physical size meaning you can mate a GRAY SB50 with 6 AWG wires and a GRAY SB50 with 10 AWG wires with no problem. This again is a reason why this plug style is so popular in many battery applications.

These Anderson original SB50 plugs are ideal for use in quick plug instances such as booster cables, winches, and other battery cable connections. We start with the SB50 plug for 6 Gauge (6 AWG) wire and then crimp and assemble the plug with the length of wire you choose. We also give you the choice for a connector on the other end including corrosion resistant tin plated copper ring terminal lugs, top post battery terminal or jumper cable clamps.

Based off the design pioneered by Anderson in 1953, APP®s two pole SB® connectors set the standard for DC power distribution and battery connections. SB®175 connectors feature a one piece plastic housing using stainless steel springs to hold low resistance contacts in place. There is no "gender" to the plugs, no "male" or "female"...the plugs mate upside down with each other which aligns the Positive + and Negative- poles of the connector.

The plug is rated to handle up to 120 Amps and is listed to handle 50A of live current plugging and unplugging while under charge (UL Hot Plug Current Rating). The SB50 is rated up to 600V DC or AC.

We carry additional SB50 plugs in our store (CONNECTORS section) if you need extra plugs for existing cables.

If you need something special with regard to the length or lugs outside the available options please send us a message and we may be able to help you out. Also you can add notes to us during checkout with special configuration requests (although we prefer you message us first to discuss).

ABOUT THE WIRE USED:

This 6 AWG Gauge multi-rated battery cable is specially designed to meet the demands of various environments while staying extremely flexible.  Full AWG sized OFC copper conductor made from pure annealed electrolytic copper, will you get maximum power. The PVC jacket compound is specially formulated to resist chemicals, water, abrasions, oil, sunlight and is rated water resistant 75C Wet and 105C Dry (BC5-W2).  This cable is rated up to 1000 Volts as AWM 10269 and 600V as the other wire types. Suitable for use in automotive applications, solar battery bank wiring, power inverter battery cables, marine battery cables, NEC Code wiring situations and many other applications calling for a durable yet flexible battery cable. The battery cables meet the requirements of SAE J1127 Type SGT as well as UL1426 BC5-W2 making them ABYC and US Coast Guard approved for boat and marine use.

BENEFITS OVER WELDING CABLE:
Full AWG Size OFC Copper Conductor
UL Listed - Quality Strictly Controlled
Superior Oil Resistance of PVC where EPDM on many welding cables is a poor insulator against oil
SAE Rated for Automotive and Marine Uses
UL Listed as water resistant
Meets NEC Code requirements

BENEFITS OVER CCA POWER WIRE:
Our cable is Copper...REAL COPPER but watch out for other "CCA Cable" as CCA Means Copper Clad Aluminum so you'd be using Aluminum which is a poor conductor compared to this pure copper cable! You have to use larger sizes of aluminum CCA cable, approximately 2 sizes larger to get close to the same power delivery as real copper cable! If you care about maximum power use our cable!
Benefits:
  • ABYC and USCG Approved for use on boats
  • UL BC-5W2 per UL1426
  • UL MTW Approved
  • UL THW Approved
  • PVC Jacket is Very Resistant to Oil, Water, Acid, Gas, Tears and Abrasions
  • The Jacket Insulation Meets UL FT-1, FT-2, FT-4, and VW-1Flame Resistance Rating
  • Annealed Pure Electrolytic Copper with Class K (Type III) Rope Lay for flexibility
  • FULL AWG OFC Copper Content
