Common Questions
0000 GAUGE (4/0 -"Four Ought" ) CUSTOM MADE BATTERY CABLE ASSEMBLY
Premium Real Copper - Extra Flexible Stranding - Flexible Rubber Insulation
This custom manufactured cable features the benefits of durable welding cable along with applications calling for battery cable. From the real, all copper, fine stranding used for the conductor to the premium EPDM rubber insulation you'll find this cable will solve your problems. This battery cable is rated from -50C to +105C and can handle up to 600 Volts so it will deliver the power you need. Our cable is Made in the USA and designed with your needs in mind to provide a long lasting cable. The rubber insulation will stay flexible in the cold weather as well which makes them ideal for jumper cables!
BENEFITS:
Real OFC Copper 100%+ IACS Conductivity
Rubber Insulation stays flexible even in cold weather
Temperature Rating -50C to +105C
Resists tears, cuts, abrasions, flame, grease, oil and water
Meets Article 630 NEC for electric welders
SAE J1127 Battery Cable Compliant
VW-1 Flame test as per UL
Rated up to 600 Volts
RoHS Compliant
Made in the USA
BENEFITS OVER CCA POWER WIRE:
Our cable is Copper...REAL COPPER but watch out for other "CCA Cable" as CCA Means Copper Clad Aluminum so you'd be using Aluminum which is a poor conductor compared to this pure copper cable! You have to use larger sizes of aluminum CCA cable, approximately 2 sizes larger to get close to the same power delivery as real copper cable! If you care about maximum power use our cable!
Suitable Uses:
Automotive Battery Cables
Battery Jumper Cables
Forklift Charging Cables
Power Inverter Cables
Welding Cable Leads
Amplifier Wiring
...and many other uses
Final pointers on lug sizing....most threaded stud batteries will have either a 5/16 or 3/8 inch stud. Most of the time the negative will be 5/16 so if the positive is the same size it is also 5/16, but if your battery stud is larger on the positive it will most likely be a 3/8. There are exceptions to the rule so please contact the manufacturer or measure. You can search online for bolt sizing tables which will help.
If you have questions about cable sizing and whether this is the correct size feel free to
send us a message
and we will do our best to answer you or at a minimum steer you in the right direction.

Required Cable Sizes Show in Gauge Numbers
*The total circuit length includes both welding and grounds leads (based on 4-volt drop) 60% duty cycle.
These values for current-carrying capacity are based on a copper temperature of 60°C (140°F), an ambient temperature of 40°C (104°F) and yield load factors from approximately 32% for the 2 AWG cable to approximately 23% for the 3/0 AWG cable. In actual service, the load factor may be much higher than indicated without overheating the cable as the ambient temperature will generally be substantially lower than -40°C.
*All wire and cable amperage ratings are governed by the installation and not by the wire itself! There are different codes and suggestions in different installation environments so be sure to look into any codes or regulations covering your specific installation to determine the correct amperage ratings.
Q: What if I need an assembly length not listed?
A: Order the next largest length available and add a note in the checkout for us to adjust your cable to the length you need. Example: You want 10.5ft so order an 11ft and add a note for us to make the cable 10.5ft instead.
*If you're looking for a longer length than what is available in the regular BATTERY CABLE section please go to the WIRE BY THE FOOT section and order the longer length of wire and order the connectors in the CONNECTORS section and simply add a note in the checkout for what you'd like us to assemble for you from those items.
Q: Can you turn or rotate a certain connector?
A: Yes, just order the cable as listed and in the checkout add a note telling us how you want the lug turned. Here is a chart we made to assist you in describing how to tell us to turn lugs >
Lug and Terminal Turn Options
Q: Can you put a 90 degree bent lug on instead or a straight one?
A: Yes, just order the cable as listed with the straight lugs and add a note in the checkout for us to put a 90 degree bent lug on instead.
Q: Do you have cables pre-made for specific vehicles?
A: No, sadly there is no place for us to lookup the battery cable dimensions of wire size, length and end sizes on a per vehicle basis. That information is not in any readily accessible database. You'll have to get the measurements for the cables you want us to build for you before we can build them
Q: Can you add an auxiliary or extra wire in the same connector?
A: Yes, we can. At this time the way we handle it is if the extra wire is 8 AWG or larger you would order the extra wire as an assembly being sure to leave at least one end with no connector and add a note for us to put it into which ever end you tell us to. If the auxiliary wire is smaller than 8 AWG we can use a 10 AWG wire just add a note in the checkout for us to add a 10 AWG wire into whichever connector you need it in.
Q: Can you help me figure out my bolt size?
A: We have put some information together here to help >
How to measure a bolt size
Q: Can you help me figure out what size cable or wire I currently have?
A: Always start by looking on the side of the wire for printing that should tell you the wire size. Sometimes there is a stamp in the connector which indicates the size as well. Different styles of stranding in the cable as well as various insulation thicknesses mean there is not a "one size fits all" exact measurement but here are measurements based on a range of typical battery cable styles as a reference. (when in doubt between wire sizes ALWAYS choose the larger wire size)

Q: What is the difference between the cable types?
A: Some people need certain specifications on cables due to codes and regulations. We've put together a cable comparison section here >
